We are a small association from Slovakia. We keep no databases about anyone, we sell nobody's data and we collect only what we could not function without. This page says exactly what that is and what you can do about it.
Who is responsible for this
RIO o.z.
a civic association registered with the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic in 2025
Company ID (IČO): 57295816
Slovakia
e-mail: riozdruzenie@gmail.com
We have no data protection officer (DPO) — the law does not require one for our size and type of activity. If you have any question about your data, write straight to the e-mail address above. A real person answers it.
What we know about you and why
| Who you are | What we hold about you | Why | For how long |
|---|---|---|---|
| A visitor to the site | Nothing that we store ourselves and that could identify you. Our provider (Cloudflare) keeps technical logs briefly, including the IP address, and runs an aggregate visitor counter for us without cookies. | So that the site works, withstands attacks and so that we know what people are reading. | Technical logs according to Cloudflare's rules, a matter of days. Aggregate visitor figures for up to six months. |
| You write us an e-mail | What you write to us yourself — name, e-mail, the content of the message. | So that we can reply to you. | As long as it is of any use, at most 3 years. Then we delete the message. |
| You are a member | Name, date of birth, address, e-mail, phone, what you would like to help with. | We have to keep a membership register under the law on the association of citizens, and we need it to run the association — calling members' meetings, voting. | For the duration of membership and 3 years after it ends. Accounting records for 10 years, as the law requires. |
| You contributed to the account | What comes with the payment — name, account number, payment reference. | We have to keep accounts and know which horse a contribution belongs to. | 10 years — the accounting period. |
| You are in a photo on the site | The photo, and your name if we thanked you. | Your consent. We ask for it in advance. | Until you say otherwise. Just write and it is gone. |
Our transparent account
We have a transparent account with Fio banka. That means anyone can publicly see the movements on it — including the sender's name and the payment reference. It is a deliberate decision, so that you can see what we do with the money.
If you do not want your name to be visible, send your contribution without your name in the note, or get in touch and we will sort something out. When you pay via the QR code, your name is carried over from your bank account — the bank adds it automatically.
Why there is no form here
You send your membership application by ordinary e-mail. We deliberately removed the form from the site — with free form services your name, address and date of birth would travel through someone else's servers outside the European Union. We would rather keep it simpler and under our control. An e-mail comes straight to us.
Who your data reaches
We do not sell it to anyone and never will. It goes only where it has to:
- Cloudflare — this site and our domain run on their servers. They see technical records of visits.
- Google (Gmail) — our post comes through Gmail, so your e-mails pass through their mailbox.
- Fio banka — it holds our account, and the movements on it are public because it is transparent.
- The authorities — if they asked us for it on the basis of the law.
Nothing is pulled in from outside companies
The program that draws the payment QR code is stored directly with us. While you visit, the site loads no fonts, adverts or images from any outside company — no Google, no Facebook, no ad network.
The only thing loaded from outside is the measuring script of our own provider Cloudflare (static.cloudflareinsights.com), which counts visits for us. It is the same company on whose servers the site runs, so your IP address does not go anywhere further anyway. What exactly it measures is set out below.
Cookies and tracking
We have no Google Analytics and no advertising or tracking scripts. We set no cookies of our own and we do not track anyone across the internet.
There is a visitor counter here, though — Cloudflare Web Analytics, from our provider. We want to know whether anyone reads what we write, and which horses' stories interest people. It uses no cookies and stores nothing about you that could identify you. It collects only aggregate figures: which page was loaded, where you came to it from (Facebook, for example), which country, which browser and whether you are on a phone or a computer. It also measures page speed, and in doing so which button you clicked sometimes ends up in the sample — not as information about you, but so that we know whether the page responded quickly enough. We cannot work out from it who you are, nor follow you from one visit to the next.
If even that bothers you, an ordinary script blocker in your browser is enough and the counter will not count you. The site will work exactly the same and we will hide nothing from you.
Cloudflare may set a technical cookie to tell a human from a robot. It is essential to running the site and the law does not require consent for it. Neither the counter nor this cookie needs your consent — which is why we have none of that annoying bar that pops up on every other website.
What you can ask for
You have these rights over everything we hold about you. You do not have to give any reason:
- To know what we hold about you — we will write and tell you.
- To correct it, if it is wrong.
- To have it deleted — apart from what we have to keep by law, such as accounting records.
- To restrictwhat we do with it.
- To receive your data in a common format and take it elsewhere.
- To object to the processing.
- To withdraw consent, where we asked for it — for a photo, for example.
Just write to riozdruzenie@gmail.com. We will get back to you within a month at the latest, usually much sooner.
Not happy with how we handle it?
You can complain to the Office for Personal Data Protection of the Slovak Republic, Hraničná 12, 820 07 Bratislava, dataprotection.gov.sk.
But do try us first. We are a small group and most things we can settle with a single e-mail.
Photos of people on the site
There are a few photos and names of people who help us on the site. They are there because we want to thank them, and always with their knowledge.
If you are in one of the photos and do not want to be — whether you gave us your consent and have changed your mind, or we forgot to ask you — write to us. We will delete it straight away, no questions and without you having to explain anything.
Children
The site is not aimed at children and we deliberately collect nothing from them. If a child under 16 sent us their details without a parent's knowledge, we will delete them once it is pointed out to us.
How we protect it
We are not a bank and we will not pretend to have vaults. But we do what makes sense: the site runs over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), only a small circle of people from the association's leadership has access to the post and the account, and those accesses are protected by a password and two-step verification. Paper applications, if any arise, we keep locked away.
Changes
If something changes — if we start using a different service, for example — we will amend this page and note the date.
