Story
Maco is a grey colt. He was born prematurely.
Day one — April 2024.
On 19 August 2024, when he was not quite four months old, he was injured on the electric fence of the neighbouring farm. The horses could not see the wire in the overgrown grass and ran straight through it — and Maco ran after them. He took several strong electric shocks and was left lying on the ground.
Luckily we were there. I ran to him and we started treating him at once. When the fence was measured, I was horrified — Maco must have touched the wire at the very moment it was pushing at full power.
We treated him for four days and I slept beside him in the stable until he was through the worst. It took another month before he learned to walk properly again — after the injury he staggered terribly and could not find his balance.
Today Maco is a sturdy gelding who will happily doze off in front of your car bonnet as if nothing had ever happened. And his coat is changing colour — white is coming through under the grey, after his white mother. He will most likely end up a white horse. He survived what he was not meant to survive.
How Maco is doing
The first entry is on its way — news and new photos will appear here soon.

Would you like to help?
We do not collect for Maco directly. After what he lived through as a foal, he is a healthy gelding today and wants for nothing. We look after him ourselves.
If you would like to help, contribute to the work of the association. That money pays for treating the horses who need it at the time, and for hay for the whole herd — so some of it always reaches him too.

What we need right now →
A light aluminium shovel for mucking out, a corrugated pipe for a reservoir, LDPE hoses for a water supply, concrete utility poles. Maybe you know where to find them.
Thank you →
